We are at the cross roads of cycling, hiking, and paddling. Our Outpost is located on the new Adirondack Rail Trail, on the Floodwood Loop Paddling Trail, and surrounded by numerous day hikes.
Whether it's day hikes, a canoe trip, a multi-day cycling trip or a combination of the three, we have the resources to help. We've published the Adirondack Rail Trail Map (call to order 518.637.2358) covering the 34 mile rail trail, spanning the three popular recreation communities of Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake. We are on the rail trail between Lake Clear and Tupper Lake and on the Floodwood Loop canoe trail at the portage connecting the 'St Regis Canoe Wilderness and the Saranac Lake Wild Forest. Our store is well stocked with trail maps, essentials, and snacks.
We are committed to human-powered recreation. We thrive on making connections and know what difference knowledge and resources make in planning outdoor expeditions. With 40 years in the recreation business, we have a proven track record. We have been publishing recreation trail maps for almost 20 years.

We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours: 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday - Sunday (starting 5/21/25).
The Floodwood Outpost is located at the Floodwood Crossing on the Adirondack Rail Trail. This is a great place to stop for a snack, a drink, a t-shirt, or the newest Rail Trail Map. We love to chat about other rail trails or help you explore the surrounding area.
Note: DEC Public Parking and Bathrooms are available near the boat launch.
