About us

Dave brings a lifetime of experience in recreation leadership.  As prior owner of St Regis Canoe Outfitters he created the Adirondack Paddlers Map Series and wrote the guidebook to Adirondack paddling.  The Adirondack Railtrail Map follows in these footsteps.  He is excited to  share his passion for the outdoors. 

Rivka is an outdoor guide and counselor.  She is passionate about cycling, hiking, and paddling.  She previously worked as the co-owner of St Regis Canoe Outfitters for many years.  Together with Dave she has hiked and paddled extensively in the Adirondacks.

 As a family-owned business, we strive to nurture a sense of community with other outdoor recreationists who pass our way. Hiking, biking, and paddling are passions of ours that we want to share with others. We created and published the Adirondack Rail Trail Recreation Map under Rail Trail Press. We are committed to sustaining the natural environment around us.  Floodwood Outpost operates fully off the grid.  In the summer we rely on solar power.  We encourage people to follow "Leave No Trace" principals and to practice a "pack it in and pack it out" philosophy. We utilize local vendors as much as possible in our selection of merchandise.
